Recommend Categories, not just Products

Is there are way, or a Mod, that will allow you to select an entire category to show in the "Recommended Products" field? I am working with a client who's products are pretty category specific. If you buy a "widget", you might also want to look at "slipcovers" which is a whole separate category.

Is this possible?

Not by default, but you can easily hard-code it in welcome.tpl
