SmartCheckout ≈ a one-step checkout mod ≈ has been created to improve X-Cart customers shopping experience by means of a fast, convenient and modern checkout routine.


Instead of the standard checkout page that makes your customer wait for several page reloads while going step by step, SmartCheckout allows to accept all user input without reloading the page making the process evident, fast and mistakes-free. This is possible due to AJAX-based forms submission which performs all requests in the background.

Not $99 anymore, seems it has gone up to $129. Anyone know how this compares to the alteredCart one page checkout? Their checklist seems to suggest more features than the alteredCart version but not sure which is better in practice.

Anyone tried both or have an opinion on which to use? Looking to add a one page checkout this week so thoughts would be appreciated

A great demand for SmartCheckout mod was the reason of the recent 1.3 version release.

What's new in the recent 1.3 version?

- Switchable shipping address block
"Ship to different address" can be tuned to be always visible.

- Use vertical view for customer's profile details
Can be turned on to match your store design in case it uses "slim" layout.

- New cart totals display mode – Integrates with shipping method
If you prefer more compact layout, cart totals block now can be moved to the shipping methods block.
Please note that this feature requires shipping to be turned on.

- Tunable big top buttons switching cart/checkout
You can switch on/off big top buttons switching between cart/checkout.

- Additional header in shipping method selection & payment method now can be turned off

- Compact view (selector) for payments method
For more ascetic view big block with radio buttons can be converted to small combo-box with the same functionality.

Free installation option is still available.

I have now purchased this and will give it a go. However, i have one question, why do you not use it yourself? When purchasing the "one page checkout" i didn't go through a "one page checkout" it was more like a 3 page checkout! Interested to know your reasons for not implementing it yourself.

I have been using Altered's One Page Checkout for many months now and am not happy at all. I'm hoping this is better. Altered's often gives fatal errors that don't allow the customer to checkout. It also messes up and randomly charges tax when it shouldn't. Also, it gives some customers 30 cent shipping (when it should be like $5) randomly. I like how it looks and how it works, when it works, but I'm definitely not happy with it overall.

I think I'll give this one a whirl. I'm losing more than $129 a week thanks to Altered Cart's.

I am also hesitating..

maybe you guys can put more light on some facts..

1- is there any statistics that shows that customers using 2-3 pages on checkout process abandoning the cart in the middle?
i checked over 20 best online shops, and most of them do use 2-3 stages..

2- altered cart mod looks nice, but more comparasion needed..

i have personally Fastlane checkout, but if i will be convinced that 1 page is better, maybe it worth to go for it..

one improvement for Anthony, i seen somewhere checkout page, and its kind of "Live guidance" on the side of the page, "Please enter your xxx, and then it changes with the rpogress.. so its also fixing and guiding you to go via the process..

3- maybe Anthony can give some live sites we can see the one page checkount integrated? and maybe even tweaked?

I'd be interested in anyone who has this installed and running live.

I tried the demo but it would be nice to have the shipping address as an optional feature and a tick box for same as billing.

We installed it but we are having problems with it interfering with our stats and also causing error messages with the order processing that said their order had failed even though it should have processed correctly.

We are working on fixing this now, apart from these issues it seemed to work well. Hopefully we can iron out these strange bugs and get it working properly.

I will report back if/when its all up and running again.
