Related Products.
 

Is there a way to automatically generate related products from the same category or or head category? I'm sure I've seen this somewhere before but for the life of me can't find it now.

Can you be more specific...the defualt action is pretty much what your asking for.

Related products are just that, related to the product the customer is looking at. This could be batteries for a flashlight for example. It sounds more like what you want is recommended products, but maybe only from the same category instead of random from anywhere in your store. There is a mod for this that some people are working on at http://forum.x-cart.com/showthread.php?t=1568 but bear in mind the thread is pretty old so it may or may not work with your version, but it is a start. There also may one available for third party vendors.
