Provider List in a box instead of Manufacturers

Not sure if this is a tpl or a full-on mod. On the surface it seems pretty straight forward. I want to replace the list of manufacturers on the homepage to a list of either the 10 newest providers, or 10 most popular, or random. Is there a mod out there for this, or anyone know a quick way to populate a front page box with this info?

PS. I know some people make each provider a manufacturer, but I'm also working on cleaning up the provider's backend, so that approach seems a little messy to me.

Thanks

I have never worked with x-cart pro so I don't know about having the 10 most popular, newest or even random, but it seems to me you could clone manufacturers.tpl to something like providers.tpl (if there isn't already a file by that name) and include your providers in that to display them in the menu column.

I know this is an old thread, but has anyone ever figured out how to do this? I need this as well.

Only by custom coding it. Also can you please list your cart version in your signature

Hi,

So I'm trying to do that as well, any idea of how to do the custom coding or a resource of who can do it?

Barajon, if you are not very familiar with PHP, Smarty and MySQL this may be very difficult for you. Any of the developers on this forum could accomplish this for you. Steve (cflsystems) is one of the best.

I would offer to help, but I am slammed these days, and not taking new clients. The steps I outlined in the other thread are probably exactly what is required. Custom stuff like this usually takes an X-cart developer or consultant to accomplish.

X-cart is a very flexible platform, but clients can always come up with stuff that it can't do. :-) That's what keeps us in business.
