advanced search by product options

does anyone know of any working examples of a modified advanced search by product options such as size or color?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have got to say that I have done most modifications within x-cart but not that one. Thinking about it, it will have to be a very complex sql squery to bring it all together but I am sure it is doable :)
