If page eq News

I just need an IF smarty statement to decide if the page is the news.php page or not. Anyone? thanks!

{if $main eq "news_archive"}

FYI, you can find most of the common $main definitions in customer/home_main.tpl and common_templates.tpl

Found yet another meaning for the "main" - "news_lists" (find it in /modules/News_Management/news_manage.php) :)
