Smarty Error
My server recently suffered a crash. I was fixing files on the server and appartently have reconfigured things incorrectly in some way. This may have something to do with file permissions or something, I'm not sure at all since I don't fully grasp the smarty engine.
I modified the cart.tpl file and the changes do not appear. I get the Smart error as follows: "Warning: Smarty error: problem writing '../templates_c/%%-20/%%-2087024569/cart.tpl.php.' in /hsphere/local/home/jfdesign/fagers-store.com/xcart/Smarty-2.3.0/Smarty.class.php on line 589" I have no idea what the problem is suddenly. Though my hosting company suffered a crash of their hard drive and restored everything to a new drive. As the example you can go to http://www.fagers-store.com/xcart/customer/cart.php It seems that for anything I edit in Dreamweave and then FTP to the live site, I receive this error whenever viewing that template. Can you please point me in the right direction? Thanks, John |
it is down to the templates_c folder.
This is where the templates are compiled (c) ready to display in the browser. When you make changes to the templates they are re-compiled in the templates_c folder. This folder must have a chmod value of 777 to work correctly. To clear the templates_c folder you would run www.yoursite.com/xcartdir/cleanup.php . This would force x-xcart to re-compile the store with your changes |
Tried both of those things
I ran the cleanup and I made sure the permissions were 777. The error continues.
Anything else it could be? Thanks, John |
I just had a look at your site John and it said I didn't accept cookies. I ran the cleanup.php and its working fine for me know.
I hope that has sone the trick for you. Good luck Ian :D Damn cancel that  I looked again after I did this and its the smarty error now |
Got it fixed
I'm going to assume that the hosting company, when they did the restore reuploaded backup files to the server and they reset permissions according to God know's what. The file ownership changed apparently though. X-Cart support had me delete everything out of the C-dir whateverucallit folder and things seem to be running fine now.
Thanks for your help guys. - John |
