Favicon works in Firefox, but not in IE, why?

I uploaded my favicon to my root directory and it showed up in firefox right away. It hasn't in IE even though I cleared out my cache and cookies etc... I even bookmarked it and still nothing. I place the <link rel="shortcut icon" href="favicon.ico" > in the home.tpl between the <head> tags and still nothing, I then put it in meta.tpl as I saw in another post but still nothing in IE. I know I have the favicon image in the right place because when I type in the browser the full address http://www.divinechic.com/favicon.ico the image shows and it is in the browser in Firefox. What am I doing wrong?

Not easy to get the favicon to show in IE (just like everything else in IE). If it shows in Firefox, you have it set up correctly. Try adding it to your favorites in IE, or to the toolbar and see if it shows there.

I just left it aloe and closed my laptop and went to bed, woke up this morning and went to my site and saw the favicon in my IE browser. I don't know why or how but it is there now. Thanks for your help!
