ok, i have my first muck up- i have just installed a few mods-
was going thru and i have an error reading the following:

Warning: Smarty error: unable to read resource: "modules/Special_Offers/menu_special.tpl" in /home/xxxxxxxx/public_html/xxxxxxx/Smarty-2.6.12/Smarty.class.php on line 1095

im not sure if the error is regarding the fact that i may have installed
a module twice or overwritten database. of all the installs that so far is the only bug i see maybe a minor other one. How do i go about cleaning it up?
I did just intall many sql patches. im not familair with smarty errors at all
but i think there is jsut an error in the install. Is it by any chance a permissons thing?

That means it can't find the template referenced. Look in the directory it mentions and see if that file exists. If it doesn't, re-upload it from your skin1_original folder.

i think there was a confusion between skin1 and skin1original
it was in one folder and not the other, yet in the admin it was visibile and on the server in one folder and not the other. on the intall of the file it stated skin1_original.
I uploaded there but not the other- hmm a bit confusing
at any rate it fixed the problem, now its in both folders

skin1_original is a backup only, it is not used in the store.

hmm i was wondering that very same thing-
i think i may have uploaded some files in there, now have no idea which is where between the two- as some of the uploads called for one folder and vice versa.
anyway to determine or guess when an error occrus again maybe that is the reason-
