How do I put a box here? (see image)
 

Can someone help me out and advise how to put a box here? I would prefereably like to have a small banner script to fill the empty real estate.

I have no idea how though.

I imagine that it is the home.tlp but I would have no idea where or what to insert.

I would be grateful for any help.

You can use the minibanners.tpl in skin1 and add a link in your home.tpl
{include file="minibanners.tpl" } under
{if $active_modules.XAffiliate ne "" && $config.XAffiliate.partner_register eq 'Y'}
{include file="partner/menu_affiliate.tpl" }
{/if}
Then just edit the minibanners template.
