Firetank Sitemap Pro compatability with Google
 

HI guys, can anyone help?

I've got this message from Google Webmaster Tools when I submitted my url with the sitemap Pro file: fts_sitemap_cached.php.


"
Unsupported file format
Your Sitemap does not appear to be in a supported format. Please ensure it meets our Sitemap guidelines and resubmit.
"

Im thinking that perhaps the html version will be ok so Im now going to check that. But Im not sure now regularly this html is updated by the firetank sitemap pro mod but since it needs to have write permissions (666) then Im assuming its pretty much up to date instantly.

yes its the html version that solves this. However the report you get from google is interesting. Ive got a lot of pages it cant find that I wasnt expecting to be present or available.. but thats for another thread I feel :O)

The firetank advanced sitemap is not an XML sitemap it sounds as if you are trying to send it to the google XML sitemap services. The advanced sitemap is and HTML sitemap it's purpose is for search engine spider linkage via a visible public sitemap as opposed to the XML sitemap you're probably trying to submit it to.

We have an XML feed which will accomplish the google XML data sitemap stuff as part of our feed manager series take a look at the x-cart feed category on http://www.firetanksoftware.com for more information on data feeds.
