replacing company logo with jpg image

hi All, I am a new a xcart user and will appreciate any insight provided here.

I am using the standard 2 columns skin that comes with xcart and simply want to replace the xcart logo with my company logo. The problem is when I replace the xlogo.gif with mycompany_logo.jpg in skin1/head.tpl the logo does not display however if I use mycompany_logo.gif file then it shows up fine. I need to use the jpg since my gif image is poor quality. thank you in advance.

Has it really been 14 days since the last person posted this question?

Sorry pomp1o, but this is a very frequent question that should be added to the FAQ.

1. clear your template cache

yourstore.com/path-to-xcart/cleanup.php

2. clear your browser cache

3. clear your email client cache

better now?

:-)

Welcome to xcart!

So sorry pomp1o but I realized I did not solve your problem...

Can I assume that you uploaded your image file to /skin1/images ?

Re: replacing company logo with jpg image

Do you have the case correct? (e.g. is the file mycompany_logo.JPG ?) Windows doesn't care about the case but linux web servers do.
Is there something in your .htaccess file blocking it?
Type in your browser address bar http://yourstore.com/path-to-xcart/skin1/images/mycompany_logo.jpg to see what you get.
Check your web server error logs to see whats happening.

Re: replacing company logo with jpg image

carpeperdiem and geckoday first I want to thank you for your input and trying to help. After a couple of more days wrestling with the issue I have finally figured it out. My company jpg image was originally saved as 300 px/in, which is the standard I use for photograph. I found out this was an issue independent of xcart because if I point the url directly to the image file firefox would throw an error.

The fix was the resave the same image as 'save for web' in photoshop, this will set the resolution to 72 px/in. I hope this may help others that is just as inexperienced as myself.
