Modify Category main page
 

Subject to change, but as is: All the subcategories appear on the CATEGORIES navigation menu (via Fancy Categories setting). There will be some 30 subcategories. They need not also appear in list form on the top of CATEGORY page. As it is with only 15, it takes up all the space above the fold. I want the CATEGORY page to look like a SUBCATEGORY page looks. (See e.g., Austin.)

Also, I would like SUBCATEGORY PAGE to show, below the description, a thumbnail of each subcategory rather than each product, as it is now.

I assumed that I should edited the home_main.tpl, but I have been advised previously not to edit here.

Anyone want to save me a bit of time/frustration by pointing me in the right direction?

You want customer/main/subcategories.tpl. Comment out the portion that lists the sub-cats.

But, I would like for that page to show the Subcategory images. I am not seeing that code on this page.

So all of the subcategories as icons or just the current category?

Would like the main CATEGORY pages to show all subcategories as images/icons with subcategory name underneath, and tiled rather than listed. Just as a SUBCATEGORY page would show products, but without the additional text (price, etc.).

I am having an issue with any images appearing (posted under separate post), so not yet sure how icons affect the layout.
