Play with Skins
Would it be possible to simply try out a different skin for a while, and then switch back, without running install.php? In other words, say I just rename my current "Skin1" directory to something else--like "old_Skin1"--and then copy the "light_and_lucid" directory out of /schemes/templates and rename it "Skin1." If I did that, would my cart then run with the light and lucid skin? Or does it not work that way?
Thanks! |
Re: Play with Skins
Well, no replies yet #-o. Is my question unclear, is it a silly question, or does nobody know?
Thanks! |
Re: Play with Skins
Nobody?? :shock::(
A simple, "No, that is a stupid idea and won't work" would be sufficient if that's the case...I'm just hoping for some input/confirmation one way or the other. Thanks! |
Re: Play with Skins
Why not try it and see? Can't do any damage, and it will probably work.

Thanks, I guess I'll give it a shot when I get a chance. The "it will probably work" is the feedback I was looking for. Having no idea, and no abundance of spare time, I didn't want to undertake something that would be a complete waste of time without checking first. Thanks again! |

I did try it, and it didn't work out too well. I'm afraid I can't remember anymore exactly the problems with it, but I ended up scrapping the idea and just running the install script again to change the theme. |
Re: Play with Skins
Thanks for your answer. I gonna running the install script also.
thanks |
Re: Play with Skins
I was curious about the same thing. I don't absolutely need the functionality now, but it could be useful down the road. I noticed that someone out there is offering a mod that supposedly allows you to do this, i.e., switch between skins, via a simple variable. So you could even offer different skins to different customers, say wholesale vs. retail. (Just do a Google search for 'Xcart Skin Swap', you'll find it easily.)
My question is, has anyone tried it, by any chance? At 65 bucks, it could be worth saving a few hours of poking around -- if it works. The demo links are broken, though, which doesn't bode well... ---------------- Mike Vivino Viv Media X-Cart Versions 4.1.6 / 4.1.9 |

I don't know if you will found what you are looking for but if you go tothissite they have tutorial for x-cart and it look very interesting.
