cursor hovering over word

Hello All

I have the latest version of xcart.

1. I would like to have my cursor hover over a word in one of my products and the meaning will show - not on a new page - just next to or above the word. How to do please. step by step please as I have no html or computer language training.

2. When I read that you can make changes to templates and use webmaster mode as its easier to work with - are changes to the template made on my site or on the cpanel where my xcart has been loaded?

Hope it makes sense.
I really wish I could find an easy picture base tutorial to get my store up and running as I am into month 3 and still floundering.:?

Thanks in advance

Twinster,

1. You need to understand how/where your "site" lives. cPanel is a user interface that allows you to control some parameters on your server. The files live on the server. Your "site" is a subset of files on your server. cPanel is one way (in my opinion, not a very good way) to look at, and edit files.

You should be using an FTP client, and an integrated text editor, to view files and edit templtes.

This sounds like you want to do a hover/popup. This is not built into xcart but there are scripts that can be added to do this..

BUT -- it sounds like you don't have the skills or tools (yet) to do this.

"an easy picture base tutorial" does not exist.

You need to learn a long list of skills before you're ready to do this... you may want to hire someone to do the popup for you.

I'm moving this thread, since it is not about installation & setup.

Additionally-- for future posts, you will have beter results if you limit the topic to one subject. DOn't hide your questions in non-related threads.

Thank you Carpeperdiem

re: popup - I will have to think of something else.

Re: editing - I have been using namo webeditor and cute ftp to upload any images created to cpanel. Is this what you meant? Download the template from html_public, make the changes, upload back up to cpanel and when I go into my website I will see the changes?

If Cpanel is not very good - do you have any suggestions?

Yes I have a lot to learn.

Thanks again

cpanel is very good -- but it is only an interface to your web server's controls. Once your server is set up and stable, it is not a place to go to unless you need to make changes to your webserver, mail, ftp or hosing configs.

namo webeditor is one tool - but it's NOT really a text editor. Your process takes extra steps -- and you can't work "live".

The way you are working requires downloading a file, editing it, then uploading it. An FTP client with an integrated or linked text editor will simplify the process, losing 2 steps... you would simply select the file work on it, then save.

If your server/mail/ftp/sql is configured, thee is no need to go near cPanel.

Your files are on a server. You will use tools to talk to the files. It's really that basic.

re: popup - search hotscripts.com for "tooltip" and you will find many options.
