Does DSEFU...?

Does DSEFU work with X-Affiliate? Unless i am doing something wrong it does not appear that they work together. As soon as you go to a product page on the website X-Affiliate looses its tracking.

Any knowledge on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Moving to THird Party Add-Ons. Best to ask John directly at SafetyNetWeb...he'll probably get back to you the same day.

Update - John told me to open my htaccess file and put "QSA," before all spots that have [L] so it now should look like [QSA,L].

This still however did not resolve my issue. My guess is that there is something wrong with my X-Affiliate at this point as i have seen so many negative comments on here in regards to it.

Re: Does DSEFU...?

X-Affil works by writing a cookie. URL re-naming shouldn't get in the way (that is, if you're using the link generated by x-affil, and not the "pretty/logical" urls from DSEFU).

On a different computer or browser, try to use an x-affil link -- wipe all cookies first. Then analyze the cookie -- is it writing?

The only thing that really matters for an x-affiliate link is the very first point of entry, when the cookie is written. At this point, the customer's browser then has a cookie and there is no URL tracking (which is different than other affiliate systems which will maintain an affiliate code in the url all the way)

So - if a cookie is written, you're good to go. Try testing on a 2nd computer (wipe all cookies and cache before using the incoming link).

Jeremy

PS -- if anyone is searching for a solution, this rant may help you.

Re: Does DSEFU...?

Thanks very much for your knowledge Jeremy! I looked around at different x-affiliate posts and found what i was missing.

Hidden/Burried deep into the partner's user profile, there's a setting:

In the user's profile, there are 2 boxes under "affiliate plans"

Affiliate plans
Affiliate plan [pulldown-menu w/ plan names]
Signup for partner plan [pulldown-menu w/ plan names]
What's interesting is that if you assign an affiliate plan in the AFFILIATE admin section, it only assigns the top "Affiliate plan" setting. There is no place for "Signup for partner plan" anywhere in the admin section.

When I assign "Signup for partner plan" to my default affiliate plan-- and then save, things seem to work.

These 2 fields are not available at signup -- even if the admin is creating the partner.

The "affiliate plan" assignment can be made from the x-affil admin, but "Signup for partner plan" can not.

Yes, the x-affil user interface must be the worst software ever sold. Once you go back into the admin and "assign" the plan, the links will work. :-(

Glad you found the other post. I keep forgetting the pain this module has caused me.
