Can you disable member signup required on checkout?

Hi,
Is it possible somewhere in the admin settings or perhaps through making a small update to the cart, to make it so visitors do not need to sign up for an account in order to checkout? Or at least give them the option of signing up but not force them to do it?

Thanks :)

Have you read (searched) the documentation.

Look for "anonymous checkout"

The exact setting to disable is:

"Disable anonymous checkout: " -- it should be [unchecked]

I suggest you uncheck it. THEN -- change the wording to 1. de-geek it; and 2. make it clear that creating a user account is OPTONAL.

Of course, there are benefits to a customer having an account -- and let's face it, on the internet for shopping for physical goods, there is nothing "anonymous" about a credit card transaction -- you will collect the IDENTICAL info if they create an account (or not). -- it's about the comfort factor of the customer... if they think this is a one-shot transaction, LET THEM just give you the money and checkout. OR -- offer them an opportunity to register.

If you make your wording intelligent, you may get more registrations than you may think.

I completely agree with you but the store is for a client who can't see the benefit of the user accounts.

I did ensure that was unchecked, but it still asks for signup on checkout? And there doesn't appear to be anyway around it other than signing up?

Are you sure? Is it REQUIRED, or just there (optional).

If it is optional, comment the fields out of /main/register_account.tpl if you never want to see it again. But I wouldn't do this.

I am having the same issue. It appears that registration is required to order and I can't find a way around it. I have also unchecked "Disable anonymous checkout".

Sounds like both of you are on a windows server?

If this is a windows server issue, someone should open a ticket with xcart.

Also, to Angie: 4.1.1 is FILLED with bugs... you really should think about bringing the cart up to date.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did not do the original install on this. What would be the best way to get the cart up to date?
