I've lost my admin navigation, pls help!
 

My navigation panels for admin have dissapeared. I think it may have to do with deleting menu.tpl as the only other templates I worked on have been customer/*.tpl.

I tried copying one back across from another site but it doesn't seem to have worked.

Accordingly, I can't login to admin anymore. Can someone please help!

Oops I've worked on so many of the tpls today I'm confused. I have admin back on line and my actual problem is now this:

I deleted menu_cart.tpl. I tried to copy it back across from another site which puts it back in the template listing again. However, it fails when I try to edit it.

How can I properly restore customer/menu_cart.tpl?

What do you mean "it fails"?
Are you trying to edit it through admin and it fails? Check permissions.
Or are you editing it, uploading it - then it fails?

I open it up in webmaster mode and make some changes. When I click save, I get an error box saying "File operation is failed". I get the same error if I try to restore file.

I have just tried copying it back from skin1_original and same error persists.

Check the file permissions on it, it's probably not writeable.

You're absolutely correct, I had to reset permissions when I copied it back. Thanks!
