categories box dissapears??
 

i have an xcart site

i've made some changes to the source files to make it look the way it does right now.. and in this process i changed something.. (i have no idea what) and now when you click on a category or a product .. the category box.. dissapears..

does anyone have any possilbe starting points for me? where i should look?? i feel like i have gone through EVERY source file in the xcart dir and sub dirs to try and find out what is different.. (comparing the source of other xcart sites i have with this one) i cant seem to find what is causing this error..

what i have noticed.. is that if i replace the config.php file with one from another xcart site i own.. it fixes the problem!.. although the inventor and categories and homepage are from the OTHER site.. (as expected) but the problem with the categories box dissapearing is resloved..

does this make anysense?

Hi Janel, which X-Cart version are you using? If you could update your forum signature with your exact version (i.e. 4.0.19) that would be very helpful.

Hi Janel...thanks but that isn't quite what I meant :) there are 3 versions of gold - the 3.x branch, 4.0 branch and 4.1 branch. Need to know exactly which version you are talking about. You can find this in your admin area under the 'summary' screen, or you can look at your VERSION file in the root directory.

Getting closer....one more number missing at the end of that. Should be 4.1.6, 4.1.5, etc. Sorry to be a pain, but it really is crucial to know if it is a bug or not.

Ok great, now if you can add that to your signature we are all set!

I would suggest upgrading to 4.1.6 first, as the 4.1.0 version was EXTREMELY buggy and this may be a bug you are experiencing.

how do i go about upgrading to 4.1.6? can i do it from my admin pannel of the website?

You would need to download the upgrade kit from your help desk area and run that. Alternatively, X-Cart can upgrade your site for you.
