Any way to remove "Personal Details" section from FastLane Checkout?
Hi all - I logged on to my Google Analytics today only to find that a couple customers bailed out once they hit the Personal Details screen during checkout. Any way to skip this step and just head straight to Shipping Info in FastLane Checkout? And just have them enter their shipping info there?

Unfortunately that would require quite a bit of customization, as the personal info section is required to determine the shipping options/tax/payment methods, etc.

Okay - so where would I insert some text explaining to the customer why I'm asking for this information? I want to make it nice and clear to them.

Right at the top...use Webmaster Mode to edit the text that shows up there. I usually explain that registration is not required, but we need to collect billing/shipping info in order for them to check out. Be sure to leave Anon checkout ON...many people abandon a cart when they are forced to register.

Right - so leave the box UNCHECKED that says "Disable anon checkout" I have that. I'll have to switch to my pc to use webmaster mode - it's not available in Safari which I'm using at the moment. And Firefox for Mac is buggy when it comes to text.

You can also edit it in the 'Languages' area of your admin. Just type part of the text in the 'filter' box to make it easier to find. I believe it is a text variable.

I'm interested in removing "Personal Details" from the checkout portion after the customer has selected the payment option. Our customers are only dealers as we sell wholesale to dealers and not to the general public. A new dealer can register, but they will not be given access to their pricing or shopping cart until they are approved and given a membership level.
If I cannot remove "Personal Details" from the checkout, I would only want our customers to be able to verify their information and have the ability to change their shipping information, but nothing else. This way we will maintain their billing and contact information. I have also removed their ability to Modify or Delete their profile. Can someone get me started with this? |

I believe it is the phrase "personal" that frightens/offends some people. We simply changed the text to say "Account Details". Yes, its a simple solution, but it seems to have worked.
There are many portions of X-cart that simple changes from the "Russian programmer to English translations" need a little work. Removing all of the exclamation marks is a good start, as well as changing a lot of the "harsh" text like "Warning" to something a little less intimidating. |

I bumped this post because no matter what anyone calls it ("personal details" or "account details") that's not the issue I need to address, though I agree that customers may not like seeing the text as "personal details". Our company will approve customers who are dealers only to shop our store. However, we do not want our customers to have the ability to modify their billing address or contact information, only allow them to verify the information and be allowed to change shipping address. I would greatly appreciate if someone can get me started with this.
