I've used the site inspector mod from Firetank (bcse is their reseller), and it works quite good. It mainly looks for security issues in your store. Like the chmod of items, if your version info etc are still on the server. And other small things. Good for a new store to do a quick check.

I concur - it's been pretty handy for many of our clients who forget to make things as secure as they could have been.

If you have had a professional build your site from the beginning, it isn't going to be of as much value as they should have covered most of the points. However, if you are new to x-cart then chances are you have missed a lot of things and this scan will check these and point them out. It offers a lot of useful advice - not just picking out the problems.
I think they have an offer on it at the moment too.

The x-cart site scan is at it's most useful at these stages:

- Before you first go live with your site

- After any upgrade patches have been made

- After anything has changed like moving servers

- After anyone has worked in your site

We actually developed it after working on peoples sites and finding developer tools left on the sites which left the site wideopen to attack, some tools were actually quite shocking giving open access to getting passwords, altering the datebase and running commands, our scan checks for any we've come across.

Hi Groovico,

Can you post a sample report showing what's covered and/or included in your scan?

Thanks
