Subcategory with subcategory not displaying products
 

On my site, I have categories, subcategories, and some subcategories have their own subcategories.

When I click on the link to a category, all of the products in its subcateories display.

When I click on the link to a subcategory without a subcategory all of the products display.

But when I click on a link of a subcategory that has a subcategory, no products display. Then, when i click on the subcategory of the subcategory all of the products will display fine.

Is this a limitation of the X-Cart software, not being able to display products nested within multiple subcategories? Is there a setting in the admin panel to enable X-Cart to be able to do this kind of product displaying?

Products only show for the category they are in. So in your example, products that are in the lowest level sub-category don't show for the mid level category by default. You would need to add the products to 'additional' categories in your product management screen.
