I am trying to learn how to get around in x-cart. I have read many of the post here and they have been very helpful. I have been trying to experiment with the vermenu and I am unable to change the font color on the text within the boxes. I have changing all the vertmenu codes but am unable to change to font color. Some will change, but not all, it just changes some of the fonts, not even all text within the same box some but not all. Am I not in the right template, from what I have read it should be the skin1.css template.

Hi Xsgear, please don't post in the Custom Mods forum unless you are posting a completed mod. Moving this to Template Editing. Have you had a look at this post?

Yes, I have read this section and I see this reference
(skin1.css - this is the master stylesheet for the customer side. All of the classes that are referenced in the tables themselves are defined here. This is where you control the size and color of fonts, background colors, spacing, link colors, etc. The admin side is controled by skin1_admin.css.)
I have tried changing all of the vertmenu codes, but none of them change all the text. If I change vertmenu items it will change Cart is empty, user name, password, login, and register on the right colum and the numbers only in the Best Sellers box. If I change vertmenulink it will change household and sport in the category box, and in the best seller box it will change all text except the first one and no numbers, and the privacy statement in the help box.

You need to look at the templates that aren't changing to see what style they are calling. Not everything in the menu boxes calls VertMenuItems as a class.

Ok, finally got it to work, had to change vertmenu link, active, and visted in skin1.css. Dont understand why I had to change all three, may run into a problem later, but for now it works. Thanks

Because each link type has a different class. This is standard CSS behaviour.
