Removing X-Cart Logo and Internal Server Error
Hello,
I thought piggybacking on another post wasn't such a good idea after all, so I've started a new thread. Hope that's okay with everyone. I'm trying to remove the X-Cart logo. I've tried removing the following line from head.tpl <a href="{$http_location}/"><img src="{$ImagesDir}/xlogo.gif" width="244" height="67" alt="" /></a> I get a 500 internal server error. I'm also tried replacing the xlogo.gif with another .gif image but still get the same error. What am I doing wrong? Thanks! |
Re: Removing X-Cart Logo and Internal Server Error
What software/method are you using to edit head.tpl?

Re: Removing X-Cart Logo and Internal Server Error
Umm...I just called up the head.tpl in Edit templates, erased the line I mentioned and hit "save" in the 'Edit File' area of Edit templates.

Re: Removing X-Cart Logo and Internal Server Error
Ah... the template editor...
Have you considered using a "real" FTP client with a built in (or not built in) text editor? try this: 1. restore your file to its pre-edited state. 2. do the same edit via FTP client/text editor works now, right? I've never had any success with the template editor built in. So I never went back. Using the FTP client may be an extra step, but worth it! Good luck. |
Re: Removing X-Cart Logo and Internal Server Error
Hmmm...it may be the template editor, I have never had a problem with it. Try the solution above and see if it fixes things. If so, time to open a ticket with X-Cart :)

Re: Removing X-Cart Logo and Internal Server Error
Thanks Balinor and Carpeperdiem for your responses.
I tried your suggestion Carpeperdiem and it worked! The X-Cart logo disappeared. However, now I've got another problem. I tried to put my own logo on. I reset the template and tried simply replacing xlogo.gif with mylogoname.gif. That didn't work. The X-Cart logo still remained. Then after I did a search of the forum, I decided to change my logo name to xlogo.gif before uploading it. This worked, but my logo dimensions stayed the same as that of the original xlogo image, so my logo looks all scrunched up. I changed the height and width attributes in head.tpl, but it's still the same. How can I change the dimensions of my logo? Also, is it possible to save my logo as something other than xlogo.gif? I thought it'd be easy to change the logo, but it's turning out to be quite a chore! |
Re: Removing X-Cart Logo and Internal Server Error
Your templates may be caching themselves. After you replace the logo name with your logo and the dimensions with your dimensions, clear out the templates_c directory and refresh your browser a few times. You should see the change take place.

Re: Removing X-Cart Logo and Internal Server Error
There's a fast way to cleanup your template cache:
www.yourdomain.com/<xcart-path-optional>/cleanup.php note: <xcart-path-optional> - only if your store is NOT installed at root... ALSO -- your browser may be caching... wipe your browser cache and restart. |
Re: Removing X-Cart Logo and Internal Server Error
My logo is in place now :D/. Thanks to you both!
