Bestsellers - for entire store? (top-10 list)

I have searched low and high for a 4.0.18 compatible mod that changes "bestsellers" from category specific, to a store-wide "top-ten list" type of output.

Anyone have any ideas?

This thread came close, but it goes back to version 3.x and although alru111 said it worked with "latest version", there are multiple "fixes" and it is not clear what goes where... and I couldn't make it work in 4.0.18

IS there a more elegant/easier way to tell Bestsellers to take the top 10 items in the store and put it in the Bestsellers display?

Thanks,

Jeremy

For example -- on the home page, it is a true top-ten list... how can we keep that going throughout the store?

Perhaps posting in the thread you reference would be the best bet.

The reaosn I didn't post in the old thread, is that the thread is more than 2-1/2 years old, doesn't apply to version 4, never really worked, and there was no definitive solution.

My gut tells me that there's another way to do this, and that someone may have found a 4 line solution.

Rather than asking the community to sort through a few pages of code that doesn't work, I thought this would be a better use of people's time.

If this breaks forum protocol, I'm sorry...

I'm an admin on a messageboard for one of my businesses, and I usually know when it's best to start a thread and when to bring back the dead. This one felt very dead... and not worthy of revival... but it's your forum... if you think it's better, I'll cross post to the 2-1/2 year old thread... BUT -- why make people sort through 2 pages of stuff that's not relevant?

Back on-topic, does anyone have any idea how to make a "top-ten list" that's always active? 4.0.18.

One way of doing it (and it might not be the best way) is that with the new feed generator from firetank you can create RSS feeds (with mine you can create various rss feeds, top 15 sellers across whole site, top 15 per category) , so you would just need to insert the rss into your own site and it should do it. You would need to ask firetank though when the release date is of the mod as im not sure when it is.
