DSEFU vs. CDSEO when upgrading X-Cart

Has anyone ever upgraded to a newer verson of X-Cart after having either CDSEO or DSEFU already installed? I am curious to know whether the upgrade to a newer version of x-cart would go smoothly or whether having these mods installed would force me to manually patch hundreds of files.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Re: DSEFU vs. CDSEO when upgrading X-Cart

I just got my answer from John at Safety Net (DSEFU). I was told that incremental upgrades from x-cart may not require manual patching, and worst case scenario there would only be about 5-6 skin files that may need a manual patch. This is well worth the module if you ask me.

Dan,

Please keep in mind, you are not using a default xcart skin - so ANY xcart upgrade you perform with or without any mods installed, could require many more than just 5 or 6 files to be manually patched.

My mistake for not making that clear.

That's no problem. I will definitely need the DSEFU anyway. If for some reason I upgrade and there are large amounts of manual patches, would there be an easy workaround?

Dan,

Everyone has their own methods of using various diff editors etc., but I'm afraid unless you run a "stock, out-of-the-box" xcart skin, future upgrades will require some manual patching, with or without any mods installed.
