[request] How-to custom layout for categories/sub categories
 

I would like to have a different template per category on my site.

For example in a home entertainment section to have a specified image header and layout of sub categories - and in a blank media section - same layout but different image header and colors

I bought the BCSE mod to have different templates per category but it only seems to do the actual product listing not the category menus

Here are some graphic examples of what I wish to acheive. If anyone knows how to do this I would be very grateful. If there is no current method and someone is smart enough to code this for us we would of course pay whatever fee can be agreed - thank you.

I bought the Website CM template package and it does everything I wanted (and this is what I think you are requesting).

Basically, you can make multiple product and/or category templates, and it adds an option to new category and/or new product pages, to quickly select a template.

Installation was a breeze. Works exactly as represented. If time is money, this bundle is a great value.

this is exactley what I have installed however i see no where to create a template to handle the category/sub category menus (NOT the product listings)

can you give me some pointers? you say it works great for you could you show me some examples?

Do you have BOTH the category and the product page mods? They are not the same...

You need to duplicate/modify the templates on the server, then use the mod to tell xcart about the new templates.

I installed both mods last night, and I have only tested the product version -- but I see no reason why both won't work as represented.

For the product pages, duplicate, rename & edit "/skin1/customer/main/product.tpl"

For the category pages, duplicate, rename & edit "/skin1/customer/main/products.tpl"

I will test the category pages later this evening. I'll report back if it's not 100% perfect.

Yes i have both category and product mods installed - im just not sure which files to edit and how to edit
