Displaying News & Newsletter subscription box
 

On the demo of X-Cart on the right hand side there is a 'News' box with a new product in it and the option for users to subscribe to a newsletter. I've had a look in the options but can't find anywhere to activate it

is there anywhere I can activate this in my store?

You need to turn the module on in 'modules' and then add some news under 'News Management'

will that give me the entry field so people can enter their email addresses and subscribe to the news also?

Yes that box will automaticly appear when you activate the news module.
