templates_c and ownership
How can I change the default ownership that smarty assigns for the directories and files it writes in templates_c?
|
I wouldn't touch that unless you have problems with it - if you do change this the system may stop working altogether.

I have problems with it!!!!!!!!
I'm in a shared hosting environment and was recently moved to a new server and ever since I cannot edit my .tpl files due to permissions error. I also cannot delete the files that smarty made in my templates_c directory. Big problem. |
I would speak to your host about this as if they have moved you to a new server they have caused your problem and so they should know how to fix it. post what you find out

Thanks both shan and funkydunk for replying :)
Since my host is slow to respond I went ahead and reinstalled X-Cart into a new directory with a new DB. It works :) I think when my hosting company moved me the files and directories with 99/nobody changed ownership to myusername/myusername when written to the new server and that broke the cart for template editing. |
Is that an x-cart secret or something?
I recently had problems with permissions only with FTP editting and I was posting on this forum and all that, I think one person replied and they really weren't clear on what I was asking. However, I left a message on the message board with tech support, they left message back saying, its fixed and it was, but they did not tell me what the problem was. I can only assume that the permission problem of editting was in the x-cart and not on my host, because I was only having problems with xcart files and I am experienced with FTP. Will someone please tell me what the above"ownership" is referring to or is it something that is not discussed in the forums. Thank you.
