Hide menu box untill you are logged in

Hi all

I am trying to hide a menu box i have created on the right hand side. I would like it only to be displayed when logged in. I have had a little play with the {if $login eq ""} command but not really sure where to put it or which template to put it in.

Can anyone help?

skin1/customer/home.tpl is usually the one that something like that goes into.
