Is there a way to do this so that no one can see your store or prices till you give them access? i may just use retail pricing and use membership levels to do wholesale pricing, but I wanted to see if there was a way to require a login BEFORE viewing the store...

If you were to use membership levels then you can set which members can see which categories. You could just set your categories open only to your chosen members.

Is this a special section of your store? Or do you want the homepage locked? Shan's way is best, but if you want password, a javascript password login script would be the easiest way I can think of. There are lots of free login javascript on the web for you to try out.
