Image compression

Hello,

We've recently made some changes to our site to improve the speed of page loading. We've compressed alot of our images, and everything is working much better. The main problem we are having now is that our Homepage is still taking too long to load. We have compressed the images as much as we can with the adobe Photoshop/Fireworks, but this still doesn't seem to be working to make it load faster. Is there another program we should use to compress images further while not suffering an even worse image? Any other ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks again

you could use fewer big images and look at the amount of categories you have.

xcart creates some massive queries when you have so many categories

Re:

We've already limited our number of pics down to 3 or 4. Wouldn't more small pictures be the same problem? We have one category for each artist. I don't see how we could reduce that. There are no groupings of artists that have not already been grouped together.

BTW, Thanks for your help.

It might even be your server, your site is extremely slow, it's not the images slowing it down.
