intergrating x-cart with static pages

is there any way you can get rid of the preformating in x-cart. so you can make up a table and then just put the templates (menu.tpl) etc in?

Ummm...not sure I follow you. You can put html in the static pages...if you want to get rid of the structure around the static pages, use root pages instead of embedded pages.

lets say I already have a website which has no shopping facilities. what i want to do is inergrate the xcart interface to the website. i wish to have a link to the 'shop' which will then display the menu categories and bring up the sign in process and shoping cart... etc. all within the design of the website. can just install smarty into my normal website and call the templates that i require to get around the nesting / formating.

I read about the root static pages. question is can i call smarty templates within the static pages?

No, you can't use smarty on your regular web site, or any of the X-Cart functions such as login/view cart, etc unless you insert all of the code that X-Cart calls to load those functions. Static pages can handle smarty yes, but only static pages in X-Cart, not your own html pages.
