catagorie list
 

I just installed x-cart (great product) and I can't see the categorie list on the front page. How do I see all the categories? All I can see is the featured products.

As far as the categories showing on the front page, they don't by default, only featured produts do. The category list will be in the left hand menu only.

I can't get the category list to show up at all on the left hand side. Is this something i need to enable somewhere in the cart?

Welll, you need to create categories first...

I have categorys. I just can't see them. They won't show up. It's like they are hidden. Only the products that I label as featured show on on the mainpage.

Did you alter the categories template? Do the categories show in admin and are they enabled?

the categories show up in the admin area. They just don't show up in the customer area. When I set x-cart up it asked me about 2 column, 3 column and some other option. I choose the last option I think.

If you set up the store as 'simple storefront' than I believe the category list isn't there. You would need to re-install the store selecting one of the other options - 2 column or 3 column.

If I reinstall the store front will that undo everything I have already done to the store? Or will it just change the looks?

Yes, unfortunately if you install a new skin it will change whatever template changes you have made to your current store.
