Creating and adding special order forms
I need to create a "special order" form which should have input fields for customers to insert their measurements, color preference, etc..
I have no idea where to begin, or if this is even possible - but if someone can steer me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated. By the way, you should know that my knowledge of the technical jargon you all use is extremely limited. Indeed, when I've read some of the posts from self proclaimed "newbies," I chuckle thinking that if they're newbies - I haven't even been born yet! |
Just create an imbedded static page (click on Static Pages in the X-Cart back end). In that static page you can do basically whatever you want, so download a php form processor from someplace like hotscripts.com and plug it in. Done!

Balinor-
I hate to bother you....I should have known things wouldn't go as smoothly as I thought. I did what you said. I downloaded 1st Page 2000 from Evrsoft, created the Special Order Form, and loaded it as a root page (The Embedded Page documentation said the form couldn't have tags and I couldn't figure out how someone would be able to complete the form and email it to me if the page wasn't enabled for that kind of thing). Anyway, it said the form was successfully created. You can see it in my list of static pages - but there is no link to it on the site. Was I wrong in thinking that it should have shown up in the help menu? Is there a way that I can fix this? If you need to take a look - your username and password still work. |
Root static pages don't show up in the help menu like embedded static pages do, you'll need to hard-code it.

Hardcode?
At the risk of sounding silly, what does 'hardcode' mean in this respect? Am I doing something with the already created document? Where exactly would I accomplish this? (I fear I may be getting in too deep for a noob)
