custom details page
 

Hi. I was wondering if anyone here may lead me into the right direction on chenging my details page to a custom look.

I modified the customer/home.tpl to the look I wanted. My problem now is that every other thing follows this look. I only want the details pages for my products to have a complete different look.

I've tried inserting html into the details section for the product options but that did no good. The details page still followed the look of the site.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm afraid the details page WILL follow the look of the site, as it is embedded in the template. You can change the look of the layout of the details page, but it will still have the same header and side menus as the rest of the site unless you make some serious modifications. The template that controls the product detail page is customer/main/product.tpl.

Would it be complicated to maybe just have the actual "see details" link modified to a static page based upon whatever product is selected?

Afraid not. You can edit the product.tpl page to display however you like though. Why do you not want the product detail page to look like the rest of the site?

The client wishes to have the details page seperate. He wants to use the details link for what he is calling a sales letter. It is basically a simple html page with text and images. I assume he will be advertising this page only but still would like for his customers to be able to purchase from it.

I guess I could have 2 versions. One plain static html page that he could use. I'm sure there is someway to manually insert the proper links for the buy button so it redirects back to the cart.
