The above post is in the FAQ and is closed to replies. Oh well. I tried using the files but was not successful. Here are the instructions included:

Smarty Tags for DreamWeaver

Just copy the files into DreamWeaver's "Configuration\ThirdPartyTags"
directory and enjoy the visually stunning ;) Smarty tags within DW.

Yes. I put the unzipped files in the proper directory but ... nothing is changed.

So I explored the help file in Dreamweaver. And following is what DW has to say about adding tags:
Quote:

Adding libraries, tags, and attributes
You can use the Tag Library editor to add tag libraries, tags, and attributes to the tag libraries in Dreamweaver.

Note: To import a tag, see Importing custom tags into Dreamweaver.

To add a tag library:
In the Tag Library editor (Edit > Tag Libraries), click the Plus (+) button and select New Tag Library.
The New Tag Library dialog box appears.

In the Library Name text box, type a name (for example, Miscellaneous Tags).
Click OK.
To add tags to a tag library:
In the Tag Library editor (Edit > Tag Libraries), click the Plus (+) button and select New Tags.
The New Tags dialog box appears.

Adjust any of the settings in the dialog box.
For more information, see Setting the New Tags dialog box options.

Click OK.
To add one or more attributes to a tag:
In the Tag Library editor (Edit > Tag Libraries), click the Plus (+) button and select New Attributes.
The New Attributes dialog box appears.

Adjust any of the settings in the dialog box.
For more information, see Setting the New Attributes dialog box options.

Click OK.

I tried that too and nothing is changed.

Anybody else have any ideas?

I have packaged up the various Dreamweaver Smarty packages out there into a couple of extensions for DWMX and DWMX2004 versions. Here's links to both of them:

DreamweaverMX Smarty Extension
DreamweaverMX 2004 Smarty Extension

 I TAKE NO RESPONSABILITY IF THESE MESS UP YOUR DREAMWEAVER INSTALL :!:

DO NOT install the wrong version! Make sure you use the 2004 extension only with the 2004 version of DreamweaverMX and vice versa. Otherwise you could end up needing to reinstall your copy of Dreamweaver. It happened to me quite a few times while I was testing them before I discovered that the 2004 version does not handle the Smarty doctype the same way since it is predefined in the 2004 version, but missing from the non-2004 version.
