Why is it not possible?
 

Why is it not possible to make check out page look like the register page?
There should be some way to tweak the code to do this. Anybody out there know how? I bet most orders would double if this could be done.
When I comment out the profile it totally gets rid on name. Any suggestions?

Not sure what you mean Delores? The two register forms should look very similar by default?

On the register for account it asks for
Required First Name
Required Last Name
Company
Required Address
Required City State
Shipping Address (leave empty if same as billing address)

Check out anonymous ask for
Profile details
Required First Name
Required Last Name

Billing Address
Required First Name
Required Last Name
Of course billling address is always required.


Shipping Address
Required First Name
Required Last Name

So this customer in order to check out anonymous is required to type in their first and last names 3 times.
I have had e-mail from several customers about this. They just leave.
I am trying to bring them over to this site from another site and it's not working because of this. I am not interested in buying the EZcheckout mod as I don't like that either. I'm sure it's a good mod but I can't see where it look anybetter, it may just decrease the checkout by one step.

Just remove the fields you don't want from the General Settings in admin, or comment them out on their respective templates. As for the EZ Checkout, it is really the best mod out there for checkout. It has proven many times over to increase conversions in the checkout process.

I did try to comment the profile out and it took out all the names from all three profile, billing address, and shipping.

No, you need to go into each template and comment it out:

register_billing_address.tpl
register_personal_info.tpl
register_shipping_address.tpl

Try the General Settings/user profile options first though, you can turn off a lot of features through that interface.

Checkout also uses customer/main/register.tpl instead of main/register.tpl

I tried all this and it made the check out page look good but wouldn't allow check out I am guessing it was because the name was required in the profile details even tho that part was commented out.

Hi,
I've got the shipping address where the name is not required now.
It's looking better but UPS now wants the state and country and zipcode in there. UPS goes by the shipping address not the billing address. If I set it to not valadiate the address then I can't get it to ship UPS. Any suggestions how to make UPS turn loose of the shipping address and go by the billing address unless the shipping address is filled out?
