Fancy categories problem

Hi,

I am unsure whether this is the appropriate forum for this.. If it is not, please feel welcome to move it.

I am working on creating a skin for a client's site that I am doing some work for that that has "fancy categories" enabled, and by creating my own customised "Candy Menu" skin, by adapting the existing one into another one.

It all appears to be working, and I have it pretty much doing what I want to do, however I am just noticing the speed is incredibly poor. Especially on rollover, the background image takes forever to load. The rest of the graphics appear to load ok on the page, and my button images are only 600bytes (hardly a massive size). Just when you rollover, its a good 1 second to display the overstate graphic

I've tried some js to preload the images beforehand, but that doesnt' seem to help either. You can look at it here:

WARNING: ADULT CONTENT

I don't believe the problem is with my code( :?), as I have gone back to the default "candy menu" style from backup and the problem is the same with this also.

Personally I use Firefox browser, and have no issues in that. It just seems to be Internet Explorer (WinXP sp2, IE 6.0.2900.2180)

Any help or advice would greatly be appreciated. I really don't want to go back to the basic categories, or create my own solution :(

Can't help with the problem although if you search on the forums you will find it is a common complaint with fancy categories, but you might want to warn of the ADULT content!!

The bestsellers made me giggle but others may be a bit more sensitive to that sort of thing 8O

I have edited your post. In the future, please put a warning if you are going to link to adult content. Thank you.

I had the same problem, but only in IE. It was caused by the Temporary Internet files settings for 'check for newer versions of stored pages' set to 'every visit to the page'. When I changed it to 'automatically', it displayed properly.
