Thumbnail re-size

Hello,

I would like to change the size of the thumbnails that displays wherever in x-cart it calls for a thumbnail but, I do not want to modify too much of x-cart and keep it as close as possible to the original code released from x-cart. I am now trying to rebuild my site using the 4.0.11 but have forgot where to make the size increase for the thumbnails.

My problem is that my thumbnails are bigger than what x-cart will allow and they just don't look right at the default size x-cart reccommends.

If someone could steer me to the right file(s) I would appreciated it.

My thumbnals are 150 x 110

thanks

dlee

Hi Dlee, are you talking about the thumbnails on the products display or the product detail page? And am I right in understanding that you want to set the display size to 150px or do you want to resize your thumbnails to a smaller size?

Hi balinor,

I would loke to set the display size. I already have my thumbnail pics sized to the size I prefer. And yes products display including featured products.

Thank you

Dlee

I can't remember if this setting is in your version or not, but there should be a thumbnail size setting in the General Settings/Appearance Options.

So far not so good. They changed things around just a bit in this new version. I haven't been able to get the thumbnail to display in the featured products yet.

It will display in the modify product window when you are editing the product. I save it and then check to see if it is there on the featured products and I only see the little box with a red X in it. I've made sure it is going to the right folder during the upload.

I haven't got a clue what is causing this to happen. I 've tried resizing the thumbnail, in the apperance config and physically with photoshop. I've even converted it to a .gif to see if any change. I've checked permissions and it is really bugging the smirnoff out of me.

Did you check to make sure the folder you are uploading to has the .htaccess set correctly? It should read 'allow from all' not 'deny from all'. Check the one in the files folder.

And new version? Your signature says 3.5.3....did you upgrade?

Dude,

YOU ARE THE MAN! :D

But I insist...

NO .... YOU ARE THE MAN!

I took your advice and check the .htaccess and what do you know. Bing bang bong .... HOUSTON WE HAVE THUMBNAILS.

Thank you so much.

*laugh* Maybe one day, X-Cart will change that file so that 99 out of 100 people don't have this same trouble :)

in the past i have asked that they set up these folders by default and have xcart save images to them by default. most people would be happy with that and anyone who wants them somewhere else (the other 1 out of the 99 in a hundred) can easily change things.

but...

nothing changed

Now that it is working I can see where the confusion was at the beging of the post.

I can use my detailed images and resize the thumbnail to whatever I want and this is a very good thing. Slick . Thank you X-Cart.

I feel like its was my-bad on the this whole problem. I remember now how this problem came to be... I created a .htaccess at the root of my web tree.

I appreciate you for the time and the effort you put in to solving this issue for me. I'm no guru and probally would not have thought about the .htaccess for atleast another day or two. Thanks for keeping me from going insane.

Take care

dave
