Main search bar - How do you add a category choice menu?
 

This is probably very elementary, but I've been trying to figure this out for the past couple hours without much luck...

How can I add a category selection pull-down menu on the main search bar? (That is, without having to go to search.php). I'd like for visitors to have the option of selecting a category and searching right from the front page.

In the categories.tpl file, there are codes to get all the categories. You can copy the code and put into the search.tpl files to create pull-down menu.

But frankly I don't like the idea. Because the categories are nested. If you put all the categories in pull down menu, they will be in the same level. It is not very organized.

Also if you have a lot of categories, the pull down menu will be very long and kind of mess.
