User registration
 

So there is no verification email sent when a customer registers? No need to confirm the account?
And there is no protection whatsoever on the forms, no captcha, etc. (registration, contact us)?

Can anyone confirm if I am missing something or if that's the way it is?

Unless you are running membership only or very specific ecommerce site "email confirm account" feature is not something you want to have.
Customers want to add to cart and checkout in seconds and no one will wait or want to go through email confirmation steps
