Hi Guys

What is the recommended maximum homepage banner size when targetted at a desktop machine?

This seems like an elementary question, but I cannot find it in he documentation.

The designer says it should be 3840px maximum, considering 4K displays.
Keep in mind that the larger the banner, the slower the page.

Thank you. I don't think I am ready to start supporting 4K displays just yet. What would a typical image size be (1000 x ??) say? What aspect ratio is needed for a banner to avoid it being cropped?

I found the size I need from the demo store | Crisp White Banners.

The banner images on this store are 1365 x 312 pixels.

I can work with that.

Yes, that should be good.
Also a good thing would be serving different hi-res banners for 4K and retina displays but X-Cart does not support that out of the box as of yet, unfortunately.
The customization would be pretty easy though.
