How to disable taxes on Shipping.
 

Xcart5 is adding Tax to the UPS Shipping costs... How do I flag it to only tax the Subtotal not the shipping?

I have UPS Under SHIPPING > METHODS > UPS Set to a "NO TAX" Class we have created with a 0 Tax Rate.

We are based in NY so our default tax is set to tax NY Residents, but no one outside NY.

Yet, when you are in NY state, and choose any of the 3 UPS shipping options, it taxes each option.???

Sales Tax is being calculated on the total of the product cost and the shipping cost. I would also like Sales Tax to apply only to the product sold and not the shipping method.

Can anyone describe a solution to this problem please?

What you need to do is:
1) Create 'Product tax class' and assign it to all products, while shipping methods will still have 'Default tax class' assigned
2) Your tax rates must be applied to 'Product tax class', not to 'Any class' or 'Default tax class'.

You can create new tax class in the Store setup > Taxes > Sales tax tab
You can assign this tax class to products via import or on products details page.
