Hmmm, that last sentence of yours is interesting, gives me another idea:
Why not have a mod or a simple link on the product towards the contact form that could say:

"Got a better Price ? Tell us where you have a better price and we will bid on it. "

I think you get the idea...

Personally Price Matching is a huge waste of time.

There is always someone, somewhere who has the item you are selling (if it is a commodity) on sale.

The time it takes to check the price, check your costs, email back and forth make getting the sale at a reduced profit seem like triple the work.

I clearly state on my Contact Us page that we don't price match in an industry full of price matchers.

If you don't know what others charge for like items they carry, then you need to do some research. Your competitor's website is always just a click or two away. For you AND your customer. ;)

Just my 2 cents.

Unless you are a manufacturer of a particular item OR TASTE, like Cigars for example. :D

That's exactly what I posted.

If it's not a commodity you would not be obligated to price match.

You define the market price for your Cigars, because I assume your Cigars are different in brand and manufacture from your competitors.

You can define their selling point.

Unique items that are unavailable elsewhere can't be price matched because NO ONE ELSE HAS THEM! ;) :D

Not for me, thanks. I don't price match. Truth is, I'm expensive and I'm fine with that. I'd rather make more with fewer customers than work my behind off servicing far more at a discount. I can provide better service and faster response if I'm not worried about getting my quota. My products require lots of customer service, lots of hand holding and help.

When people ask me to price match, I politely say no.

Sorry, that's a sore subject with me for reasons I won't soapbox to you all here.

Every store and business is different and so requires different approaches
