Search Manufacturers possible with Altered Cart's Smart Search ?

I am using Smart Search for my x-cart which works great but can it be possible to use it to search manufacturers? I got around 1500 manufacturers & many customers like browse products through manufacturers & in this case if we give them option to search manufacturers first through Smart Search
