Uninstalling CDSEO

Has anyone uninstalled this mod? A client of mine asked me to remove it. I'm wondering if I can just restore the 12 changed files, or if there are any changes required to the database?

Andrea,

You should be able to revert the install changes. The SQL changes can stay in the database and should not have any effect on the system once the code is out.

Re: Uninstalling CDSEO

Be careful about just restoring the changed files though, in case other mods were added after CDSEO was installed.

Regarding the old URLs, you can install the free XCSEO Basic, or XCSEO Pro, both will migrate your old URLs from CDSEO to your new XCSEO urls.
Additionally, if SEO'd urls aren't wanted at all, you could still copy the code that handles this migration, from XCSEO Basic, as the code is open-source

Cheers

Re: Uninstalling CDSEO

I would retain the database and use the fields to do 301 entries from existing urls. CDSEO Pro will import from these fields and do 301's automatically.

Thank you all for the feedback. Jon I don't understand your message about 301 entries.

Re: Uninstalling CDSEO

If they have index cdseo urls, they will want to do 301 redirects to prevent broken links if uninstalling. If they are uninstalling to upgrade to cdseo pro this will happen automatically.

Jon - Unrelated question - I currently have CDSEO installed. What differences are there for the Pro version. Do you have a side-by-side comparison sheet for us?

Feel free to PM or e-mail me the answer.

Re: Uninstalling CDSEO

I'll be providing a feature outline comparison this week and will make it publicly available.

The pro version was rewritten from the ground up. As a summary new features including:
- Not just custom urls, but custom page titles, link anchors, meta keywords and meta tags.
-Internal cache for better performance. Automatic rewrites for php and html catalog pages.
- Custom Index Page Title.
- No need for subfolder urls
- Custom Error Page.
- Folder or .html page support
- Categories, products, static pages and manufacturers in one mod
- Admin section for easy administration.
- Automatic 301 redirects when urls are changed
- Import/Export feature for easy editing
- Ability to select url format upon installation
- Modules for future additional functionality is the mod will be continually improved and expanded
- Easier installation (Only 5 small edits for integration, 2 for froogle compatibility, and 1 to add an admin menu link)
- Increased compatibilty with third-party modules
- and more which I will detail later this week

OK - Two more questions. How will the upgrade process work for those of us that already have CDSEO installed, and is there going to be a cheaper upgrade price for those of us that have spent for the original version?
