Bestsellers module

How do I move the Bestsellers module from the Left Navigation bar to the center of the page? That's how it was before we did the 4.6.6 update but I can't figure out how to put it back in the center top of the page again.

You are in luck, it is extremely easy!

Just go to the module settings page Settings-> Modules and click the "Configure" button next to the Bestsellers module.

Then uncheck the box "Show bestsellers list in the menu column".

Unfortunately if I do that it doesn't show up at all on my site.

Perhaps this is due to your skin. What skin are you using? Can you provide a link to your site?

Yeah it worked fine when I was on 4.5.2, then we upgraded to 4.6.6 and it's no longer working. PM'ed you the link.

Well, I took a look and it seems you do have a custom skin. Which is a good thing! But it means that things are not likely to just "work", they will need to be integrated into your custom skin. I see so many things that I would suggest changing on your site, I don't know where to start.

I think the biggest issue is the lack of https/SSL. The second is the category navigation, less clicks are desirable, seems like you have to click twice just to see products. Third, the site is not responsive at all.

I know all of those issues are off topic. But they are glaring problems.

Looking at how your skin seems to be structured, it is not standard in any way. I see images pulling from skin/comet/images/ui/logo_rs.png, which is pretty odd. It seems that whoever worked on the site was not an X-Cart professional, and they just adapted it to their needs rather than sticking with best practices. Not saying that they aren't skilled, just not real familiar with X-Cart.

Typically upgrades of X-Cart involve three things, the PHP files, the database, and the skin templates. In your case, the PHP and database might be upgraded, but the skin templates are definitely not. Since you are in the "custom" zone, it is going to take some troubleshooting on the site to figure out why the module doesn't display.

Some of that is definitely above my pay grade! I appreciate you taking a look at the site and giving me feedback.

I agree on the navigation and over time I keep changing and revising the navigation. We actually expanded the navigation to the current structure after feedback from customers who found the more condensed version harder to navigate but like I said it's an ongoing project.

By responsive do you mean the site doesn't change size to work on different screens and the width is just fixed?

Yes indeed. I am a huge advocate for responsive sites, especially these days.

Yeah that was brought up in initial site design talks but I think at that time responsive sites were just becoming a "thing". Doesn't mean it won't happen in the future. At least with the site being database driven finally (as opposed to the old site which was hard coded HTML with no database) we have a lot more options in the future.
