CDSEO module+description as meta description for category?
 

Hi ,
I have installed the CDSEO module and I need to provide the category description to the meta description.
But when i edited the meta.tpl file .It didnt show the content which i added.
and then even i deleted the meta.tpl file and found that still it is showing the meta description .

How to add the category description to the meta description field.
Please advice me.

Hi,

No need to edit your meta.tpl. Are you using the CDSEO Pro version? If so, you can easily add any category meta description through the Administration panel>Categories and then pick the category you wish to edit. Then you can submit the category meta description and keywords etc.

If you are using CDSEO basic you can easily go into admin, go to categories, pick the category you wish to edit and then choose the button "modify category". Then edit the field META description below.

Don't forget to clear your browser cache and/or templates cache after submitting the changes. If you do forget you might not see any changes you made.. :)

Hi,
Thanks and i have seen that option and i am using PRO version.
now my point is simple.i have category description but it didnt display in the meta description tag.It only shows the category name?
I looks odd to me.
That is the reason i went to the meta.tpl to add the extra IF condition to show the category description to the category page.I have no clue on from where it fulls the meta details.

That's odd indeed. Have you tried adding a category meta description through the CDSEO Pro interface or through the default admin field? (modify category)

For a quick fix i'd suggest you submit a ticket with the vendor, WebsiteCM.

I have added it in the xcart admin panel and also i have feww directly in the database.

If using CDSEO Pro you want to utilize the CDSEO Admin section for all your SEO as it will overwrite anything specified elsewhere.
