How Do I Make it Click from Category Directly to Product?
 

Hi All,

Very amateur operator here. I'm sort of reconfiguring/updating my web store and I was was wondering how I have make the sidebar and menu links (categories) go directly to the store item≈not to another sub-menu. Does that make sense?

For example: I sell subscriptions to my magazine. I'd like the main category to be "subscriptions" but when the drag-down menu shows the optional products like "Canadian Subscription" I'd like clicking to take the customer directly to that product. Is this possible with the standard system? I'm sure it is and I'm just not figuring it out.

Right now when you click on (for example) "Canadian subscription" you get another tier of menu that show the main category with the "Canadian Subscription" product below it, meaning the customer has to click again to get to the item they want to see.

I'm using a YBizz skin if that matters.

No, it's not possible with the default standard system.
You are looking at the categories navigation menu, which will only show categories and sub categories - not products.
You would need to customise it - recode it.
Maybe just hard code the menu - so add links in the template that go directly to the product.

Another option would be to purchase and install xMenus from theXCartstore, and then you can do what you want in admin and set the individual menu links to go wherever you want - categories, products, pages, etc.

That would be a cool option! I don't know why no one has asked for this before. Makes perfect sense, just have the product pages listed as a drop down inside the category. Sure it won't work for all but it would certainly benefit some.
